Product Guide —
Contact Angle, Cage Type, Matching Methods & Applications
Supplied by TA Bearing
Angular contact ball bearings are designed to carry combined radial and axial loads simultaneously, with a single contact angle that directs thrust in one direction. TA Bearing supplies a full range — single row (70, 72, 73, 74 series), thin-section (718, 719), double row (32, 33, 52, 53), four-point contact (QJ), and matched pairs — in standard and custom specifications.
Because a single bearing supports axial force in one direction only, single-row types are commonly mounted in pairs (DB / DF / DT) or used as universal matching sets to handle bidirectional loads and preload arrangements.
The contact angle determines the balance between axial load capacity and high-speed performance. TA Bearing offers three standard designations:

· As the contact angle increases (C → AC → B), axial capacity rises while limiting speed falls.
· Radial load capacity remains broadly similar across the three angles.
· Example: 7210C, 7210AC, 7210B share the same dimensions but differ in contact angle.
TA Bearing provides four cage options. The cage material affects speed capability, temperature resistance and application fit — not the basic load ratings:

· Steel cage:
the universal default; TA Bearing lists it without a suffix (e.g. 7210C).
· Nylon PA66 (TN / TN9 / BTN):
glass-fiber reinforced, quieter running.
· Brass cage (M):
for heavy loads and larger bearings, e.g. 7312ACM.
· Phenolic / bakelite (TA):
resin cloth laminate, used in thin-section and high-speed types, e.g. 7203ACTA.
Single-row angular contact bearings are often paired to support axial loads in both directions and to apply preload. TA Bearing supplies matched sets as follows:

· Choose an angular contact bearing in four steps:
· Contact angle: C for speed, AC balanced, B for heavy axial load.
· Cage: Steel (default), Nylon (quiet), Brass (heavy), Phenolic (high-speed).
· Arrangement: Single, DB / DF / DT pair, or universal matched set.
· Sealing: Open (standard), ZZ or 2RS for double-row types.
